Maria Vida "Marvie" Espinosa Bravo is the current mayor of San Fernando, Masbate. Her term expires in 2013. Together with her is her Vice Mayor-Elect Engr. Arturo "Tony" Aligada Uy. Marvie is the wife of the Congressman-Re-electionist winner Hon. Narciso "Bong" Bravo. Marvie is the daughter of the late congressman Tito Dela Rosa Espinosa and Congresswoman Vida Versoza Espinosa. Marvie, as she is fondly called, vows to initiate changes in San Fernando. First and foremost of which is the rehabilitation of the water system. Potable water is the main problem of her constituents for decades now. Hopefully, with the help of her congressman-husband this project of hers will be realized. The streamlining of her staff and employees is another problem. In due time this will be addressed, with God's grace. She has with her SB members who have the dream and the drive to help her make San Fernando a much better place to live in. Currently, the Municipal Building is being reconstructed. The first half of the structure was already finished and occupies. Some other aminitied like, airconditioning units, are being added to the structure. the other half is estimated to be finished by the last week of February 2012. This is one major project of the present administration, aside from the repair and concreting of major roads in the municipality, with the help of the mayor's husband, Congressman Narciso "Bong" Bravo.
The only Catholic Church in the municipality is Holy Infant Jesus Parish, which has been in existence since 1859 and which is under the Roman Catholic Diocese of Masbate. The 31st and present parish priest is Fr. Emerito "Litong" Castillo. The parish is celebrating two fiestas each year, one on the third Sunday of January and the other, on May 17. The third Sunday of January is the real Feast Day of the Holy Infant Jesus, the town's Patron. The municipal government, years ago, decided to hold another fiesta in May so that vacationing college students and other people could come and join the festive celebration. This move proved to be effective as it draws more visitors to this humble town. The new Hermano and Hermana de Sto. Niño are no other than the First Couple of San Fernando, Masbate, Hon. Congressman Harciso Bravo and Hon. Mayor Maria Vida E. Bravo. They were installed as such only this 2011. One major project that the present Parish Priest is working on is the construction of a Parish Convent. More funds are yet to be raised for this project. It is hoped that, with God's grace, with the help of generous Catholics here and abroad, this project will see fruition in no time at all.
