Samtia are a Muslim Jat clan found in Bhakkar and Layyah districts, of Punjab, Pakistan.

They claim Rajput extraction and tell the following story of their origin; Ram Chandar and Gonda adopted Islam under Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi. They then assumed the names of Muharam and Variam respectively.The former was appointed Kardar or governor of Sindh and with his brother came to that country, where he married the daughter of the old governor.[1] But the population rose against the new governor, and the two brothers fled with their kinsmen. The settled in the Sindh Sagar Doab, near the city of Layyah. They overcame the Gashkori Baloch and Bahalim Shaikhs, who occupied the country. They were in turn dispossed by Seharr Jats, who drove them from the western parts of Layyah and Bhakkar districts.[1] The Samtia and Seharr are still biter rivals.
They are also believed to be closely linked with the Bhukar clan of Jats. There are also some other tribes in other areas of Pakistan which are believed to be the ancestors of the main Samtia tribe. In Sindh, where a few Samtia are still found, the name of the tribe is pronounced as Samtio.
Haji Malik Allah bakhsh Samtiah (ex-Parliamentary Secretary Transport Punjab) is a very famous poltician. He remains the member of provincial assembly two times from district LAyyah. malik riaz hussain samtia son of Malik Atta Hussain Samtiah is a very famous landlord and a very generous person of District layyah. Malik Niaz Ahmad Samtiah (Late) was a person who is still living in the hearts of the people and very popular personality of district layyah. People Still love him very much. He was killed in an act of terrorism by some terrorist. Malik Mushtaq Ahmad Samtiah also very renowned person. He remains the nazim of union Counsil aulakh thal kalan. Malik Muhammad Iqbal Samtiah is also a very generous person and is famous for his social work. Malik Abdul Hameed Samtiah is a very famous name in Tehsil Karor. Malik Manzoor Hussain Samtiah (late) also a very famous political personality of Tehsil Karor.

The main village on South side are ; Jamanshah, Hafizabad, Kharral Azeem, Kot Sultan, and Pahar Pur, than its start border with Muzaffarghar, and first village on the other side is Daira Din Pinah, Tunsa Morr and Kott Addu the Tehsil of Muzaffarghar. Layyah to til Kot Addu way is 58 km.
The Main village on South East side ; Layyah Bypass road, Pir Jaggi Ludhana, and this road end in Turrco Ada (from there road end into Multan - Mianwali main Road, going to east is Chouk Azam, and west is Chouk Munda the part of Muzaffarghar municipality) Layyah to til Tarrco Ada way is 55 km full of forest and desert.

Some Samtia are also found in larkana sindh., samtia road aligoharabad. They normally speek sindhi. Mazhar abbas samtio son of Ghulam abbas samtio belongs to this family of samtia.
