The Samavartana (Sanskrit: समावर्तन, Samāvartana), also known as Snāna, is a Hindu sacramental ritual (Saṃskāra) that was performed at the close of the Brahmacharya period and marked the end termination of the student life.[1] It signifies a person's entry into grihastashrama.
In the past, students leaving the gurukula would, at this stage, be given a second yajnopavitam to wear. In modern South India, this ceremonial entry to grihastashrama usually done just before or on the day of marriage.
