Salève

Le Salève is a mountain of the French Prealps, rising to 1,400 metres and towering over the city of Geneva in Switzerland. Despite its proximity to Geneva, the Salève is located in France, in the Chablais area of the Haute-Savoie department.

The heights of the Salève (1100 metres) can be reached by cable car whose lower station is situated 400 metres from the border (from the village of Veyrier). The upper station overlooks Geneva and Lake Geneva. It is also a popular bicycle hill climb.

The mountain features snow sports facilities, and in the summer, paragliding is popular. It can be accessed from the center of Geneva by public bus (No. 8, 34, 41) to Veyrier-Ecole or Veyrier-Douane.
