Origin

The Salunkhe claim Descent from the Solanki Rajputs of Gujarat, and the Chalukyas.[4][5] The Salunkhes were well-known for plundering Moghul regions, so they were called once "pirates" by the Moghuls.during the British raj

Many Salunkhe warriors from the district of Satara migrated towards other districts in Maharashtra
in order to escape the British .
many of them also changed their names . The most common name changes noted were Gore and
shinde.
