Saltpond is the capital of the Mfantseman Municipal District in the Central Region of Ghana.

Saltpond is noted for offshore oil resources. Saltpond Offshore Producing Company Limited, a joint venture between Lushann International Energy of Houston and Eternit Universal Limited of Nigeria operate the Saltpond Oil Field.[1]
It is the birth place of Professor Kwesi Dickson, who was a notable Ghanaian academic, theologian, author and a former President of the Methodist Church Ghana.[2] Sir Kobina Arku Korsah, first Chief Justice of Ghana, was also born here.
