Veteran Hindi actor Prithviraj Kapoor starred in this socially relevant movie. The tragedy is one of director Puttana Kanagal's masterpieces. It depicts Dr.Raj Kumar at one of his best performances together with a great supporting cast including Prithviraj Kapoor, veteran Nagendra Rao, Jayamma, Narasimha Raju, Balakrishna, Vajramuni, among others.
The story revolves around the dangers of superstition, particularly when it concerns marriage and how unscrupulous elements in society could manipulate these beliefs to their benefit and lead to tragic consequences.
Music is one of this movie's highlights. All the songs are great melodies. The title song 'Olave Jeevana Sakshathkara' is one of the all time greats of kannada film music.
