Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu is a commune in the Loire-Atlantique department in western France.

It's about 400 km southeast of Paris, via Chartres, Le Mans, Angers, and Nantes.

Vicomte Bertrand Jochaud du Plessix, a Lieutenant in the Free French Forces who died (13 May 1941), reposes in the local cemetery. He was first buried at Gibraltar, having been shot down near there.[1]

His daughter is the American writer Francine du Plessix Gray.[2]
