S.abdul khaliq

History of Mithai in Pakistan

S.Abdul Khaliq are the oldest business in Pakistan. The roots stem from Persia in the early 1500s. When the Moghul Emperor Humayun, the son of Babar - The Tiger, recaptured his throne by invading Northern India in 1555, after being in exile in Persia, he called the Halwa makers to India. The ancestors of S.Abdul Khaliq were the offical Halwa makers for the Moghul rulers until 1835. In 1835 Abdul Ghafoor, having received the permission to share Halwa with the public, opened a shop in Ghanta Ghar,[1] Chandni Chowk, India.

At time of partition from India, the two famous Mithai makers in Karachi, Pakistan were S.Abdul Khaliq and Abdul Hanaan.
