SC Farense is a Portuguese association football club from Faro founded in 1910. SC Farense is the most successful club in the Algarve. The home colours are white and black.

Since competing in the UEFA Cup during season 1995/1996, the club suffered a series of misfortunes on and off the field. This culminated in ejection from the League in season 2005/2006. The club, unable to pay professional players, tried to fulfil its League fixtures with junior players. Several heavy defeats resulted in the club not fulfilling three fixtures. Under League rules this meant disqualification. The club re-formed at the lowest level, Algarve League Division Two. This was won handsomely and the club promoted to Algarve Division One in 2006/2007 season. In 2007/2008 season the club was promoted again, this time to Portuguese Third Division. Most home matches are played at the 30,000 seater Estádio Algarve, some six miles from Faro. Attendances reached 2,000 towards the end of 2006/2007 season, in a league where a crowd of 50 is generally considered good. In season (2009/2010) SC Farense granted another promotion and next season it will be playing in Portuguese Second Division and is looking forward to another promotion. The club shares the stadium with Louletano.
