Through a two-year journey of mostly ups, he is now all set to compete in the 125cc class in the 2011 MotoGP.

In August 2010 Kumar participated in the FIM UAM Asia GP Indian Championship round as a wild card entry in the “Honda Stunner” class and finished fourth and fifth even with International riders in the mix.

Based on his performance during the FIM UAM Asia GP (Indian round), the “Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) offered Kumar a sponsored entry for the Japan round of the UAM championship - a very rare occurrence at such an early stage in a moto racer's career. He finished seventh and eighth overall during both the races amidst International riders and also set the second fastest laptime at the circuit for the class – 1:54.3.

He currently leads the championship in the “Indian experts – 130 to 165cc 4-stroke – fully modified Group B class”. Sarath set the fastest laptime to have been clocked by any Indian motorcycle during all rounds - his inclination to set records once again brought to the forefront.

Round Laptime
1 2:01.7
2 2:00.5
