The Russian national bandy team has managed to win the Bandy World Championships six times, in 1999, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011.
In 2010, the Russian team defeated Kazakhstan in the championship opener 14-0.[1]
Russia became a member of the Federation of International Bandy at the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, taking over the place of the Soviet national bandy team in the next world championship in 1993. Russia have never finished below 3rd in the championships.
