Runje Shaw (1 January 1896 - 17 February 1975; also known as Renjie Shao or Shao Zuiweng) was the eldest of the Shaw brothers (Run Run Shaw, Runde Shaw and Runme Shaw). Born in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China, he was one of six sons of Shanghai textile merchant Shaw Yuh Hsuen (1867-1920), Shaw was originally a lawyer and worked for firms like Hsin Hwa Foreign Firm, the prestigious Chinese-French Chen Ye Bank. His entrepreneurial success included a venture in the Huayou Egg Factory.

Shaw later enter the film business and became a film director, producer and writer. Unlike his younger brothers, he never left China. In 1934 he established Unique studio in Hong Kong and remained studio boss until 1937.

Shaw was married three times, once to Unique’s starlet Chan Yoke-mui.
