Rovčani

Rovčani or Rovči (Montenegrin: Ровчани, pronounced [rǒ̞ːʋt͡ʃaːni]) is a Serb Highland clan and town in Montenegro.

The clan takes its name from Rovča region in Montenegro. Nikša (Nikola) is the oldest known ancestor, he had a son, youngest Gojak, who founded the clan. Gojak in turn had four sons, Bulat (whose descendants are known as Bulatovici), Šćepan (whose descendants are known as Šćepanovići), Vlaho (whose descendants are known as Vlahovići) and Srezoje (whose descendants are known as Srezojevići.). Rovčani was one of the clans that constituted the Montenegrin Greens, a faction that opposed the annexation of Montenegro to Serbia.[1] During the Christmas Uprising two members of Bulatovic family were flayed alive in Rovči by the Montenegrin Whites (faction supporting annexation to Serbia).[1]
