Rotex is an international organization open only to Rotary "rebounds", or former Rotary International Youth Exchange students. While Rotex is only a relatively new concept, Rotex clubs are appearing rapidly around the globe and there are now Rotex clubs in most of the countries that participate in Rotary Youth Exchange.
Rotex is active in many local community projects, but one main objective of Rotex is to help local "outbounds" (future Rotary Youth Exchange students) prepare for their exchanges abroad and also help their local "inbounds" (foreign Rotary Youth Exchange students) get comfortable with their surroundings and schools in their host countries. Many Rotex's run camps or events for their Inbound students to help them get a better experience whilst in the host country. In some countries Rotexians are also present on the Rotary Youth Exchange committee for the District to help provide a younger opinion to the committee.
Rotex also plays an important role as a social group for past students. This includes organizing functions, reunions or camps to allow students to keep in contact. This allows the students to continue to communicate with their peers and acts to assist with the reverse culture shock on return from exchange.
