Roosevelt is an 'L' station on the CTA's Green and Orange Lines. It is an elevated station with a single island platform, located at 22 East Roosevelt Road in the Near South Side community area of Chicago, just east of State Street.
Free transfers to the Red Line subway station of Roosevelt are available at this station, and the Museum Campus/11th Street Metra station is about ⅓ miles to the east. The station is also the closest 'L' station to the Museum Campus of Chicago and Soldier Field, which are about ½ mile to the east.

The original station on this site opened on June 6, 1892.[2] In addition to serving 'L' trains, the Roosevelt station also served trains of the North Shore Line. 'L' trains stopped using the station in 1949 when CTA routed all trains from Englewood and Jackson Park through the State Street Subway, forming the North-South Route (a precursor of today's Red Line) but it continued to serve as the southern terminal for the North Shore Line until 1963, when the railroad ceased operations. The station then closed and was demolished. Tracks still passed the spot, and trains resumed passing in 1969 when these began to route Dan Ryan trains into the Loop "L". The current station opened in 1993 as part of the new CTA Orange Line.
