Room 13 is a 1989 horror novel by Robert Swindells. It won the Children's Book Award in 1990.[1]

Plot summary

Felicity 'Fliss' Morgan has a nightmare on the night before her school trip to Whitby; however, on the trip and upon arriving a series of strange events occur, in which she turns purely awesome. Is there really a 13th room of the hotel she is staying in? Or is it just her imagination? One of Fliss's classmates, Ellie-May gets sick when in Whitby. Room 13 is a linen cupboard at daytime but at midnight the number appears on the door and that is not the only scary thing.

Felicity 'Fliss' Morgan 
The main character, Fliss is shy and quiet.
Lisa Watmough 
Fliss's best friend. A quiet girl who rarely gets in trouble. She helps Fliss defeat Dracula.
David 'Trot' Trotter 
A noisy boy who eventually aids Fliss in killing Dracula as well.
Gary Bazard 
One of Trot's friends, he also eventually helps Fliss.
