The Archdiocese of Alger or Algiers (Latin: Archidioecesis Algeriensis) is the Metropolitan See for the Ecclesiastical province of Algiers in Algeria.

History

• August 10, 1838: Established as Diocese of Algiers from Diocese of Islas Canarias in Spain
• 1838: United with Diocese of Iulia Caesarea
• July 25, 1866: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Algiers/Alger

Special churches

The seat is Cathédrale Saint-Philippe in Alger. There is also a Minor Basilica at the Basilique de Notre Dame d'Afrique in Algiers.
