Robert Hardy (bishop)

Robert Maynard Hardy CBE[1] is a retired Anglican bishop of the Church of England.

Born on 5 October 1936 and educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield[2] and Clare College, Cambridge, he was ordained in 1963. His first position was at All Saints and Martyrs' Church, Langley, Manchester,[3] after which he became a chaplain and fellow) of Selwyn College, Cambridge.[4] Following this he was appointed Vicar of Borehamwood then Director of the St Albans Diocese Ministerial Training Scheme. In 1980 he awas ordained to the episcopate as the Bishop of Maidstone.[5] In 1987 he was translated to be the Bishop of Lincoln.[6] In retirement he continues to serve as an honorary assistant bishop in the Diocese of Carlisle.
