Ripieno
Ripieno (Italian pronunciation: [riˈpjɛːno], Italian for stuffing) or tutti (Italian for everybody) can refer to:
- the larger of the two ensembles in the concerto grosso. This is opposed to the concertino which are the soloists.[1]
- the notes added when realizing the figured bass of a basso continuo.
- "ripieno concertos", which are like early symphonies in that there is not usually any dominant soloist.
- an organ stop.[1]
It can also refer to the main body of orchestra in early orchestral music, although this use is today often disregarded.
