Rickleton is a village which lies within the district of Washington, Tyne and Wear, England. It is located on the south side of Washington Town and borders Harraton village, Birtley and County Durham. The village mainly consists of housing. The village centre includes a Londis supermarket, a general store, a hairdressing salon, Finewood Chinese takeaway and a bus link, which has buses linking to other areas of Washington and County Durham. A family pub, The Woodlands, and Washington Cricket club can also be found here.
Vigo Lane is the main road which runs through Rickleton, and into Harraton.
The Sea to Sea Cycle Route runs through the village, on the site of a disused railway.
Rickleton Primary School is located in the village centre.
The village has roads forming a loop around the village, these roads are called Rickleton Way, Bonemill lane and Picktree Lane. Two daytime bus services, run by Go North East, the M3 "street shuttle" which runs to chester-le-street and Heworth Interchange, running twice hourly each direction. Bus number "lime" 8 runs to Stanley and Sunderland the other way, twice hourly each direction. Evening bus services change to becoming once an hour each direction which is number 50A "whey aye five-o" which runs from chester-le-street to the Washington Galleries bus station. This service also runs on a Sunday once hourly, but runs to Durham and South Shields. The X1A "Red Arrows" run's to Newcastle upon Tyne and returns on an evening.
