Rhys Carter (born 14 March 1984 in Sale, Victoria) is an Australian professional basketball player. In 2011 he will play for Uppsala Basket in the Swedish Basketball League after spending the 2010-11 NBL season with the Adelaide 36ers.
A Victorian junior, Carter joined the South Dragons for in their championship year in Australia's NBL in 2008 averaging 8 points, 2.1 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. He then joined Gothia Basket in the Swedish Basketball League where he played in 40 games and averaged 16.3 points, 5 assists and 1 steal per game.
Carter then returned to Australia in 2010 to play where he plays for the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL. For the 2010-11 season he averaged 8.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in 22 games for the 36ers.[1] He missed six games during the season due to a back injury which also limited his court time upon return.[2]
On 11 May 2011 it was reported in the Adelaide daily newspaper The Advertiser that the 27 year old Carter, who is currently out of contract, has been approached to return to play in Sweden for two years.[3] On 21 May it was confirmed that Carter has accepted the two year offer to play for Uppsala Basket in Sweden.[4]
