Reisiwil is a municipality in the Oberaargau administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Reisiswil has an area of 2 km2 (0.77 sq mi). Of this, 64.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 31% is forested. Of the rest, 4.6% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0%) is non-productive (rivers or glaciers).[3]

Demographics

Reisiswil had a population (on 31 December 2010) of 195.[1] in 2007; 2.6% of the population were foreign nationals. Over the previous 10 years the population had decreased at a rate of -14.1%. Most of the population spoke German (95.4%), with French being second most common (2.0%) and Albanian third (1.0%).

Children and teenagers (0–19 years old) made up 27.9% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) made up 54.8% and seniors (over 64 years old) made up 17.3%. In Reisiswil about 73.9% of the population between 25 and 64 had completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either university or a Fachhochschule).

Reisiswil had an unemployment rate of 0.26%. In 2005, there were 37 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 10 businesses involved in this sector. No one was employed in the economic secondary sector. 17 people were employed in the tertiary sector, with 5 businesses in this sector.[3]

Politics

In the 2007 election, the most popular party was the SVP which received 66.4% of the vote, followed by the FDP (10.9%), the CSP (10.6%) and the small right-wing parties (8%).
