ReFS (Resilient File System)[1] is the preliminary name for a file system feature found in leaked builds of Microsoft Windows 8.[2] It is found in leaked builds starting with 6.2.7955.[3] As of June 2011, little is known about the filesystem. ReFS is not readable by Windows 7 or earlier. It is also unclear how complete it is; a volume formatted with Protogon under Windows 8 build 7955 may be unreadable by the final version of Windows 8. Support for Protogon is absent in the Developer Preview (build 8102).
