Rattan Mohan Sharma was born in Rajasthan and is the nephew of classical vocalist, Pandit Jasraj. It was found that young Rattan had an affinity towards percussion instruments so till the age of 15, he also learned tabla.
Rattan Mohan Sharma hails from the Mewati Gharana and belongs to the family which has given legends like Pandit Pratapnarayan, Pandit Maniram, Pandit Motiram and he is the nephew and disciple of Pandit Jasraj. He has performed solos in many concerts and festivals in India and abroad. He is an expert in all forms of classical music like Khayal, Tarana, Dhrupad, Havelisangeet, Tappa and also in light classical forms and folk music including Bhajan as well as Rajasthani Folk. Also a successful music director and composer giving music to a number of tele-serials and private albums. He performs at the classical music festival, Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh organized by Pandit jasraj and Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan. He is an A grade artist of All India Radio [3] He is the recipient of the prestigious Shankar Rao Vyas Award, Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj rotating Trophy, Mewati Gharana Gaurav Puraskar, Sur Ratna Award, and Sur Mani Award.
Rattan Mohan Sharma is married to Ekta Sharma and has a son, Swar Sharma.
