Rashmi is a word of Sanskrit which means "A light ray". In Hindu society, it is commonly used as a name of a female person however it may also be used as a male name.
With reference to the Sanskrit term "Soorya Rashmi" (meaning "A ray of light arriving from Sun (giving light to the world)") we can derive that "Rashmi" means "Ray of Light", as "Soorya" means "of the Sun".
