Ranjith Sankar is an Indian screenwriter and film director, best known for his debut film Passenger (2009). The film was a critical and commercial success. Many said it heralded the invasion of a new age cinema in Malayalam cinema.

Born in Thrissur, Kerala, Ranjith Sankar completed his education from M A College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. For the young director it all began with his love for storytelling and he likes to think he is a writer first and then a director. Shankar’s writing career began with television series such as Nizhalkal, and American Dreams.
Despite the euphoria of his first film, he still retains his job as an IT professional. He is also one of the few Malayalam filmmakers who has a blog.
In 2011, his next film Arjunan Saakshi, starring Prithviraj, was released. The film was inspired by his real-life experiences. The film won positive reviews from the critics.[1]
He is currently working on his new movie titled "Mayflower".
