Randy Awrey (born April 27, 1956) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College (1990–1992), Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin (1993–1998), and Saginaw Valley State University (1999–2007), compiling a career college football record of 118–74–1.

Playing career

Awrey played football as a halfback at Northern Michigan University. As a sophomore in 1975, he scored the winning touchdown on a 68-yard run on the first play in the second half of the Camelia Bowl, giving the Northern Michigan Wildcats the NCAA Division II National Football Championship over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.[1]

Coaching career

Awrey was the head football coach for the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals located in University Center, Michigan. He held that position for nine seasons, from 1999 until 2007. His coaching record at Saginaw Valley State was 73 wins and 30 losses. As of the conclusion of the 2010 season, this ranks him #1 at Saginaw Valley State in total wins and #2 at the school in winning percentage (.709).[2]
