RM 474 begins in central Boerne at US 87. The route travels east through Boerne along Blanco St. before curving north along Esser Rd. near Boerne High School.[2] After leaving Boerne, the route travels generally toward the north-northeast. After crossing the Guadalupe River, RM 474 ends at an intersection with RM 473 between Sisterdale and Kendalia.[1][3]
RM 474 was designated in 1945, and connected US 87 (the present-day business route) to the community of Kreutzberg near the Guadalupe River. The route was extended north in 1949 to a county road; that road would be designated part of FM (later RM) 473 in 1951.[1][4]
The entire route is in Kendall County.
