Rajaolibanda Diversion Scheme or RDS is an irrigation project located on River Tungabhadra in Mahbubnagar district in Andhra Pradesh, India.[1] It is an inter-State anicut on the Thungabhadra river in Raichur district of Karnataka, to ensure increased inflows to Andhra Pradesh.[2]
RDS was was taken up on river Tungabhadra and the head works and canals were mostly completed by 1956.
RDS would irrigate villages in Mahbubnagar. The Bachawat Tribunal had allocated 17.1 tmc ft of water of which 15.9 tm cft was exclusively meant for Mahabubnagar.
The RDS has been a source of sorrow to the Mahabubnagar farmers because it is hardly giving them 8-10- tmcft against their entitlement of 15.9 tmcft.
