List of Taelons

Below is a list of Taelons who appeared or were mentioned in the television series Earth: Final Conflict.

Contents

Main characters

Da'an

Serving as the North American Companion, Da'an shares a unique bond with humanity. Unlike Zo'or, who wishes to dominate humans, Da'an feels that Taelon interests are best served by cooperation with humans. He is also the last Taelon to reproduce, giving birth to Zo'or. Da'an is fascinated by new experiences, and often displays a childlike curiosity about Human culture. In the final episode of Season Four, Da'an joins other Taelons in an attempt to merge with Jaridians, unwittingly resurrecting the openly hostile Atavus species.

Ma'el

Two thousand years before the Taelons formally arrived on Earth, Taelon scientist Ma'el was sent to evaluate the Humans to determine whether they could save the Taelons from extinction. His research concluded that the Humans would one day equal the Taelons; however, he cautioned them against coming to Earth. Although he died long before the series begins, his research and artifacts play a major part in the plot.

Quo'on

Quo'on was the leader of the Taelon Synod. Quo'on was highly respected and his decisions were taken as final.

Quo'on was generally cautious and conservative, favouring slow and subtle plans to reach the Taelons' goals.

Quo'on was assassinated by the a Jaridian probe at the funeral of Companion Protector William Boone. The same attack nearly killed Da'an and Zo'or. His death left the Synod without a leader, though that position was later filled by Zo'or.

Ra'jel

Appears in the first episode of the fifth season, played by Canadian actress Helen Taylor. Little is known about Ra'jel, except that he is supposedly the first Taelon to have changed his body to energy-based. As the first evolved Taelon, he was the first member of the Taelon Commonality, and as other Taelons followed his example the Commonality grew. His personality and essence seems to have remained intact as a part of the shared Commonality, and when very few Taelons remained in season 5, he appears to have become an active being again.

T'than

The famous and long standing Taelon war minister, who had served the Taelons in battles against Jaridian forces for many years. A bitter enemy of Zo'or, T'than arrived on Earth during a time of little confidence in Zo'or's leadership and handling of Humanity. He seemed to have been an ally of Ra'am, and of Da'an. Despite his position on the Synod, T'than often stayed with his forces in the neighbouring galaxy, only journeying in order to challenge Zo'or's leadership. In the fourth season, T'than was admitted to Death Stasis, where he would wait until a new supply of core energy was located. His last wishes were to be awoken to find the Earth filled with Taelon offspring. Soon afterward, Zo'or murdered T'than in an act of "energy cannibalism", stealing what little energy T'than still had.

Zo'or

Zo'or was the UN Companion and leader of the Taelon Synod after the death of Quo'on. He is one of the children of North American Companion Da'an. He quickly became part of the Taelon political system, eventually ascending to Synod leader. Zo'or appeared to lead with minimal Synod oversight.

Zo'or was noted for his calculating and ruthless nature, and in later seasons, an inability to cope with the thought of his demise leading to an increasingly unstable demeanor. In season 2, it is said that Zo'or retains a greater degree of aggression than all the other Taelons. This aggression could have been dispersed by the Commonality, but it was decided to allow this behaviour to continue.

In the fifth season, the androgynous Zo'or was resurrected as a female Atavus, showing actress Anita La Selva in a form much closer to her actual physical appearance.

Minor characters

Ar'ral, Australian Companion

Mentioned briefly in conversation between Ne'eg and Da'an, Ar'all is the Companion of Australia. It is likely that Ar'ral is one of the unnamed Taelons featured in discussions with Da'an throughout the first season.

Kee'sha, Taelon scientist

Kee'sha first appeared in the episode "Infection" in the first season. He was a replacement for Ne'eg, who was killed by a lethal bacteria released by a Jaridian probe. Kee'sha was shown to have an adversiarial relationship with Zo'or, who considered Kee'sha a "disgrace to your caste." By the episode "Destruction", Kee'sha subsequently was assigned to a Russian Taelon lab to retrieve data from the Jaridian probe. During this assignment, Kee'sha learned of Boone's and Lily's association with the resistance through visual records taken from the probe, but was killed by a weapons test activated by a resistance member assimilated by the probe. Not having told anyone of his discovery, Kee'sha's death saved the resistance.

comitted suicide, because he couldn't bear Zo'ors greed anymore. Was put into Exil and came back to haunt Zo'or. he found his peace when Major liam Kincaid destroyes Zo'ors secret bank accounts.

Lee'or, Taelon Synod member

Mentioned briefly in a discussion between Raj'al and the Mothership computer in the fifth season. The Atavus leader had tricked the Taelon computer to recognize him as Lee'or, and thus give him the ability to power the Mothership's weapons. Raj'al commented that it was impossible for a Synod member to be standing on the bridge, for Lee'or was dead.

Mythological Taelons

Throughout the series, there were mentions of figures from Taelon mythology, often used as parables and fables:

Ma'li

a figure who defeated a large army singlehandedly by directing them through a tiny passage. Known as 'Ma'li between the cliffs.'

Urath'ma and Shaqarava

Twin avatars of grace, Urath'ma was considered a liar by Shaquarava, and emerged from darkness and angst to vanquish Urath'ma, the voice of all lies. The name Shaquarava is referenced afterwards in the series many times, often referring to an ancient organ in Taelon hands capable of destruction.

Po'on

a famous Taelon King who features in a parable about fate and death.
