History

Original lineup

Before the band was called RMISERY, they were known as Kill Devil Hill. The original lineup began in 1997, with Kirk Alan (Buffalo, N.Y.) on bass and vocals, Craig Holt (San Antonio, TX) on drums, and Larry Pro (NY/Florida) joining on guitar and vocals in 1998. In 1999, they recruited two additional members. On lead guitar was Chad Edward Czilli (Detroit, MI), and Brian "Moody" Johnsen (Florida) as lead vocalist. In late 1999, Brian left the band, after only one live performance with Kill Devil Hill, with Chad soon to follow in early 2000. In mid 2000, Larry left the band to pursue his career in aviation. Kirk Alan and Craig Holt continued to write new original material without a guitar player. In 2001, Sty Malone (Tallahassee, FL) joined the band and recorded guitars on Kill Devil Hill's debut album, Closer to Insanity, but then departed the band in early 2003.

RMISERY lineup

In 2003, they dropped the name Kill Devil Hill, and became RMISERY. Following the name change, Chad Edward rejoined the band, but after a few live performances, Chad left the band once again. RMISERY went months without a guitar player, but then discovered Chris Earl (a Sarasota transplant from San Jose,CA) at an open jam session in the summer of 2004. In 2006, James Arnold, who played for the groups Needlework and Ending @ Hand, joined the band as their second lead guitarist. James would leave the band in July 2008 after playing for nearly 2 years. James went on to start "As Bridges Burn", based in Venice Florida. In the early months of 2011, both Chris Earl and Craig Holt would depart the band. It was rumored that Kirk Alan had continued writing and recording music, in hope of rebuilding RMisery. In August 2011, Chris Earl had rejoined RMisery. October 2011, RMisery recruited Lee Kay on guitars and Brian Stoops on drums.

Accomplishments

RMISERY has opened up for several national touring bands, such as: Soulfly, Pro-Pain, Stuck Mojo, McBrain Damage, (featuring Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden), and Tampa's own Monstrosity.
