REC 3 or [•REC]3: Génesis is an upcoming Spanish horror film sequel to 2009's REC 2 and third film of the REC series. It is a prequel to the first film taking place some time before and on unknown territory. According to the AFM, a tenant from the Apartment from the first 2 films will appear. It will be released in theaters on March 30, 2012.[1] It is also one of the first REC films to be released by Fox Searchlight Pictures in the North America after purchasing the international rights of the franchise in 2011.
The action in [•REC]: Génesis encompasses the events of the first two films. The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight giving the film a completely new disturbing atmosphere. The infection has spread out of the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies. This third part of the saga also works as a key to reveal previously unknown information from the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future REC: Apocalypse, which will possibly tell the events occurring after the three films, presenting a viral deadly infection spread over unknown territory.[2] The setting of the Génesis, according to the trailer, is set on a wedding where, possible, virus spreads out and starts infecting everyone.
