Punarjanmam (Malayalam: പുനർജന്മം, Translation: Reincarnation) is an Indian Malayalam film starring Prem Nazir and Jayabharathi. It is the first erotic psychic thriller in the history of Indian cinema.[1] The film is directed by K. S. Sethumadhavan based on a case history published by famous atheist and psychiatrist A. T. Kovoor in Mathrubhumi weekly. The film as well as Prem Nazir's performance won immense critical acclaim.[1] The film was remade in Tamil as Maru Piravi with Muthuraman and Manjula in the lead.

Aravindan, a college lecturer, falls in love with his student Radha and later marries her. Aravindan had lost his mother at an early age itself. He tries to find his mother in Radha. He didn't even touch his wife with a feeling of lust for this reason. This creates severe problems in his married life. Later, a psychiatrist helps him to return to a normal life.
