Prosotsani (Greek: Προσοτσάνη, formerly Πυρσόπολις - Pyrsopolis, Bulgarian: Просечен, Prosechen, Turkish: Pürsıçan) is a municipality and town within the municipality located in the western part of the Drama regional unit in Greece. The 2001 census reported a population of 11,215 inhabitants for the municipal unit, and 3,937 for the town.[1][2] A local attraction is the cave at the source of the Aggitis River, located at the village of Aggitis in the community of Kokkinogeia. It was a sub-district in the Drama sanjak in the Selanik vilayet before the Balkan Wars.
