Her paternal grandparents were Prince Maximilian of Baden and Maria Luise of Hanover. Her maternal grandparents were Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg. She is therefore a niece of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband and consort of Elizabeth II. She is a first cousin to The Prince of Wales and his siblings.
She is in the Line of succession to the British throne. Following the death of Princess Katherine of Greece and Denmark in 2007, Princess Margarita has become the most senior female line descendent of Queen Victoria.
On June 5, 1957, she married Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia.[2] From this marriage were born Prince Nikolas (1958) and Princess Katarina (1959). They were divorced in 1982.
