Preston FM is a community radio station broadcasting on 103.2 MHz from its base on Fox Street, Preston, UK, () which commenced full-time broadcasting on October 6, 2008.

The station has broadcast previously on six one-month trials, in October 2005, March 2006, November 2006, May 2007, November 2007, and June 2-29 2008. The community broadcaster, which is led by station manager Richard Lace, subsequently received a full-time community radio licence from UK regulator Ofcom.[1] The station has been partly backed thanks to EU funding.

History and Overview

The station began as a project by Preston based arts charity and organisation Prescap.

Current Shows

All current shows on the station are mainly presented by various people from Preston and neighbouring towns. As Preston FM is a community radio station, all DJ's are unpaid volunteers and because of this Preston FM has a wider variety of presenters and shows than any other station in the area. As of 2010 the station reached an approximate of 115 shows along with 150 presenters.[1]

ARRY ARRY BOYS Mixtape, Chris' Originals, Drive-Thru with Bradders and The Snape, Cinema Revisited,Chat City, Andrew and Dave, The KiLr Show with Vix - The Angel Of Metal, Arts Scene and Saturday Brunch, Bugz Milone Request Show, which are all hosted by local presenters.

Projects

Many volunteers and staff will occasionally organise workshops that focus on teaching DJing radio and broadcasting, editing and mixing music along with oral and presenting skills. The workshops have, since the station went full time in 2008, has reached out to Schools and Collages.

Preston FM has recently finished 12 weeks of summer, which was a tour venue that broadcasted from different locations in and around the city of Preston for 2 weeks at a time, starting in Leyland, at the Rococo Coffee lounge and the spending 2 weeks each at Ingol, Ribbleton, Garstang Discovery Centre, Moor Park, at the Preston College Park campus and Preston City Centre, from St. George's Shopping centre.
