Pragathi Nagar is a colony in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, India. The village has about 2,000 houses and visitors are greeted by cool and clean water on either side of the entry road: The road leading into the villages is built on a tank bund.

Pragathi Nagar is India's First ISO 9001 village with a (gram panchayat), a local village government.
It is a dream come true for the progressive young leaders of erstwhile Allwyn employees through the Pragathi Nagar welfare association founded in 1993 for the welfare of Allwyn employees after the company's closure. The Welfare Association searched and identified an ideal habitat for its members for which they pooled the money received as compensation for employment upon closure of the company to build their abodes in this serene habitat in the rural part of Hyderabad District.
The Welfare Association Committee, committed to build the best of the residential colony for its members, bought land from the Lahari Estates in February 1990. The association resolved to extend the best benefit out of the funds of its members and undertook construction of the houses instead of contracting it out. The construction of the houses was completed by the end of 1993. The members of the association had their housewarming ceremony on 31 December 1993 welcoming the new year. This became a gram panchayat in 1997, the CPI(M) candidates won the post of sarpanch as also of ward members. This was achieved not only in record time but also great savings for the members of association: The Welfare Association refunded Rs.50 lakhs to its members out of the savings of construction work and also acquired landed assets to an extent of 9000 sq. yards for use of common facilities like a school building, parks, and a library. Cement roads were laid extensively, maximum greenery was created by planting trees on both sides of the roads, parks were developed, a new office for gram panchayat and a community hall were constructed. A Hindu temple, a Muslim mosque, and a Christian church were constructed by the gram panchayat. The committee also runs well-maintained tennis courts, swimming pool and badminton courts throughout the year.
Today there is a lot of news in the papers, about how Pragathi Nagar has made laws, such as the banning of plastic bags, to protect the environment and help keep its residents are safe.
There are no liquor shops or tobacco products in the locality. The Panchayat arranges collection of garbage - biodegradable and non-biodegradable are separated. dustbins are freely distributed to households.
The approach road from JNTU junction to Pragathi Nagar is totally damaged and authorities do not care to relay these roads. Pragathi Nagar also adopted the policy of having concrete roads which are not only dangerous for commuters but is a motorists nightmare. It is a classic example of the government policy of awarding ISO certification to Pragathi Nagar which does deserve accredited quality certification.

The demand for property in Pragathi Nagar has increased over the last few years. With several new builders, the development of the property has grown multifold and bank have been opening branches in the colony.
