Pornoise/1kg is the first box set released by the Japanese noise musician Merzbow. The box set consists of 5 tapes with only two tracks per tape (one on each side).

Pornoise/1kg was first released in 1984 by ZSF Produkt.[1] A limited re-release in a VHS video box followed, including various inserts.[2]

In 1997 the box set was reissued under the same label in a limited 30 copies release. The release was available only by mail order and included numerous inserts in a beige bag with artwork.[3] The box set was reissued again in the US in 1993 through RRRecords and Statutory Tape with cover art by Trevor Brown.[4] The first three volumes of the set were was also included on the 50 CD box set Merzbox as CDs 18, 19, and 20 respectively, with variations in the track listings.[5]

The box set also generated enough extra material for another studio album called Pornoise Xtra released later in 1984.[6]

Due to Merzbow's lack of notoriety at the time and the small amount of copies from the original release, there is no information on the original length of the tracks.
