Porcelanosa is a Spanish ceramics and tiling company that specializes in bathroom furniture and accessories and tiling. It has many branches in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, the United States and across the world. It was founded in 1973 in Villarreal, staffed by 98 employees. The company specialises in the production of porous, stoneware and porcelain wall and floor tiles in various finishes.
In 2003 the company established a new interactive show-room in New York City. The opening was attended by noted celebrities such as John Travolta, Carolina Herrera, Princess Ira von Fürstenberg, and Isabel Preysler at the St. Regis Hotel.[1] Isabel Preysler has also done substantial work for the company in advertising.
In January 2004 it was announced that the company was to set up a £3.3m UK headquarters near Wandsworth Bridge in London, and Cirus which began construction in June of that year. In November 2005 it was announced that Porcelanosa was to open a new £14m showroom and office at Braehead in Scotland in autumn 2006.
Since 2007 with newcomer Andrew Stuart Pennington, Porcelanosa USA has reopened stores in New Jersey, New York and Miami with new stores in Connecticut, Dallas and Chicago.
The Spanish firm is currently headed by Manuel Colonques, who with his wife Delfina, were the only Spaniards to be invited to the Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in April 2011, aside from the Spanish royals and the ambassador to the United Kingdom.[2] Porcelanosa paid most of the costs of parties hosted by Prince Charles at Royal residences in the aftermath of the wedding and also donated to a Scottish stately home owned by the Prince’s charity.[2]
