She started acting as a child in a number of television series and rose to fame with her first major role in Alli Thandha Vaanam, a film of the Tamil cinema.
Poornitha then turned heroine with the film Prathi Gnayiru 9.30 to 10.00 and went on to act in Malayalam and Telugu films as well.She is also the anchor of Vijay TV Super Mom. She is currently acting in a television series called Pirivom Santhipom on Vijay TV.
