Pooh-Man, also known as MC Pooh (born Lawrence Lee Thomas, January 25, 1971)[1] is an American rap artist who has released several albums on various labels, including Jive Records.[2] His lyrics focused on the topics of sex, money and murder (his song "Sex, Money, and Murder" appeared on the soundtrack to the 1992 film Juice).[3]
He was active in the music industry from the early 1990s onward.[4] His only charting album, 1992's Funky as I Wanna Be, gained notoriety for its risque cover, featured guest appearances by MC Breed, Too Short, and Ant Banks, and brought him his biggest success, peaking at #158 on the Billboard Top 200.
Pooh-Man's third release, Judgement Day, contained insults directed at Too Short, Ant Banks, Spice 1 and The Dangerous Crew. One single, "Run Nigga Run," received light airplay on BET in the summer of 1993, though the title was changed to "Run Brother Run" in order to satisfy network censors. Neither the track nor the album proved successful, though the album did reach #57 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He appeared in the Hughes Brothers 'hood film Menace II Society later in the year.
