Ponorogo is a regency (kabupaten) of East Java, Indonesia. It is known as the location of the origin of Indonesian traditional show, the Reog Ponorogo.
Ponorogo is located in East Java. It is divided into 21 districts: Babadan, Badegan, Balong, Bungkal, Jambon, Jenangan, Jetis, Kauman, Mlarak, Ngebel, Ngrayun, Ponorogo, Pudak, Pulung, Sambit, Sampung, Sawoo, Siman, Slahung, Sooko and Sukorejo.
Ponorogo also known for its culinary specialty, Sate Ponorogo, grilled marinated chicken satay served in peanut sauce, garnished with shredded shallots, chili paste, and lime juice.
In Otonomy Awards 2011, Ponorogo Regency got Grand Award of Public Service Innovation.[1]
