Podlesje is an abandoned settlement in the Kočevje municipality in southern Slovenia. It was a village inhabited by Gottschee Germans. During the Second World War its original population was expelled. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region.[2]

The local church, dedicated to John the Baptist, was a Baroque church built in the 18th century on the site of an earlier church. It was demolished after 1952. A similar fate awaited the early 17th century chapel dedicated to Saint Mary on the Verdrenška gora hill to the north of the village.[3]
