PlayStation Suite
PlayStation Suite is an upcoming software framework that will be used to provide downloadable PlayStation content for devices that meet the forthcoming PlayStation Certified requirements. Currently, this includes devices that both run Android 2.3 and meet specific unannounced hardware requirements, and the Sony PlayStation Vita. The framework will be cross-platform and cross-device, which Sony refers to as "hardware-neutral". (It is based on the Mono platform.)[1] It is currently set to be released before the end of calendar year 2011.[2][1]
Games
The games released under the PlayStation Suite will be made available to devices via the PlayStation Store, allowing players to download the titles to their devices. Currently only original PlayStation titles will be released and emulated under the program. Games released under the program will have controls overlaid on top of the touchscreen, however for devices which have analog buttons such as the PlayStation Vita and Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, the controls are mapped directly to the buttons.[2]
PlayStation Certified
In addition, Sony is starting a new program known as PlayStation Certified to assure that the Android device is able to run the content smoothly. Currently the only devices to be certified are the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play[2][1] smartphone and the Sony Tablets.[3] The PlayStation Vita will also have access to the PlayStation Suite. In a November 2011 update, the previously released Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, and Sony Ericsson Xperia acro became PlayStation Certified.[4].
