The parasite was first described by Telford in 1978.[1]
This species is prominently pigmented in all stages from larger trophozoites.
8 to 20 merozoites are produced in the schizonts.
The mature gametocytes are oval or round.
This species is found in Venezuela, South America.
The only known host is the lizard Gonatodes taniae.
