Career

History

After graduating from school, he moved to Seoul, Korea, where he began his professional career. Joining Rivers Crew, he was able to earn a great deal of respect from the Korean b-boy community. He is most well known for his "godly" power moves and freezes.

Physicx became famous after the UK B-Boy Championship, where he won the solo tournament.

The style Physicx brought onto the floor was unique even in his own category: powerheads. He is known to have his own style even though he focuses on power. He helped popularize many moves, including the elbow spin. However, since 2009, Physicx's style moved towards foundation as an expression of what Physicx has learned while being active in the b-boy field.[2]

This shift in style has earned him more respect inside the breaker community as it focuses more on the musicality of b-boying, something he often neglected before.

Injury

Bboy Physicx suffered from a shoulder injury in 2008 and had to undergo surgery causing him to lose many of his moves, however he publicly stated that he focus most of his life on dancing to regain his past skills.[2]

Competitions

Physicx has been a champion of many international-level tournaments both as a member of a crew and as an individual. His most notable crew achievements include a R-16 Korea and Bboy Unit Korea title with Rivers in 2007, and UK B-Boy Championship titles with Project Soul in 2002, 2004 and 2005. As an individual, he won the solo title at UK B-Boy Championship in 2004. He was also selected for the 2005 Red Bull BC One individual tournament involving 1 on 1 battles between the top 16 bboys in the world.

Judging

Physicx has also been selected as a judge for several breakdance competitions world wide, including B-Boy Showdowns.

Dancing Style

Until 2009, Physicx stated that his main focus was on power moves. He gained respect because of the unique style he brought to the dance as a powermover. Physicx has pioneered several power moves, such as different variations of air flares, gattling gun, and spinning flags. More recently, Physicx has been moving his style towards foundation. Although Physicx has stated that he still enjoys the powermove aspect of b-boying the most, he feels that it is natural for breakers to move more towards foundation as they gain experience in the b-boying world.[2] == years active 1997-2010
