Petra Schersing, née Müller (born 18 October 1965 in Quedlinburg) is a retired East German sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. She won eight medals in the 400 metres and 4 x 400 m relay in international competitions.

At the 1986 European Championships Schersing won a bronze medal in the individual distance and a gold medal in relay, with teammates Kirsten Emmelmann, Sabine Busch and Marita Koch. At the 1987 World Championships Schersing won a silver medal in 400 m as well as another relay gold medal.

At the 1988 Summer Olympics she won the silver medal in the 400 m, between Soviets Olga Bryzgina (gold) and Olga Nazarova (bronze). She also won the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 m relay, with teammates Dagmar Neubauer-Rübsam, Emmelmann and Busch.

At the 1990 European Championships Schersing won a silver medal in the individual distance and a gold medal in relay, with new teammates Annett Hesselbarth, Grit Breuer and Manuela Derr.

Her personal best time in the 400 metres was 49.30 seconds, achieved in June 1988 in Jena. This places her third on the German all-time list, only behind Marita Koch and Sabine Busch.[1]

Schersing represented the sports club SC Chemie Halle and was coached by Harald Werner. She is married to fellow Olympic sprinter Mathias Schersing.
