Petalidi (Greek: Πεταλίδι, Katharevousa: Πεταλίδιον), is a village and a former municipality in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Messene, of which it is a municipal unit.[1] Petalidi is situated on the western shore of the Messenian Gulf. It is located on a road connecting Messene and Kalamata to the north with Koroni to the south. The road GR-82 (Pylos - Kalamata) passes through the north of the municipality. The nearest intercity train stations are in Kalamata and in Aris. It is located SW of Tripoli and Messene, SW of Kalamata, WSW of Sparta, N of Koroni, E of Pylos and GR-9, ESE of Gargalianoi and Filiatra and SE of Kyparissia .

Petalidi has a school, a church, a post office, beaches, banks, hotels, a port and a square (plateia). The length of the town is about 1 km and residential houses nad buildings are mainly within the beach. The centre is located near the gulf.
The landscape of Petalidi includes rocky mountains with a few bushes covering much of Petalidi and farmlands are around Petalidi. It also has some forests near the centre which include mostly pine trees.
The small bay located north of Petalidi is named Petalidi Bay.
Petalidi also has a monastery located not far from the centre.
