Pelican / These Arms Are Snakes
Pelican and These Arms Are Snakes recorded a split EP, often referred to as PLCN/TAAS, on Hydra Head Records in 2008. It was initially released in a limited run of 3000 10" vinyl records and a more limited number of CDs available initially on Pelican's European tour with Torche,[1] and These Arms Are Snakes' East Coast US tour with sBACH respectively.[2] In 2009, it saw a second CD pressing.[3]
During Pelican's encore at London's Islington Academy on their 2007 European tour, These Arms Are Snakes joined the headliners onstage. The two acts collaborated to perform a nine-man version of "Pink Mammoth", from Pelican's EP of the same name. The result of the partnership came too late for inclusion on the Pink Mammoth release itself, instead making its way onto the 3" CD with the After the Ceiling Cracked DVD.[1]
The release consists of a recording of the collaborative version of "Pink Mammoth", and Pelican's cover of These Arms Are Snakes' "Digger of Ditches Everywhere", originally from 2003's This Is Meant to Hurt You.[2]
